About WAX (WAX)weiss-badge

Overview

Wax (WAX) also known as Worldwide Asset eXchange, is a decentralised platform that allows anyone to operate a fully functioning virtual marketplace with no investment in infrastructure, security, or payment processing. Wax was developed by the founders of OPSkins, the world’s leading marketplace for online video game assets. Wax is designed to serve millions of online players who already collect, buy and sell in-game items. The platform will allow millions of traders to create their own virtual stores on one decentralized platform, providing instant payments, security, and trust services that will bring millions of new participants into a growing ecosystem.

Technology

The Wax platform is accessible to anyone, which provides a complete catalogue of all items available for sale in real time. This provides users of Wax with access to a worldwide market, with all the advantages of blockchain technology. This allows faster payments and the best prices available. The smart contract underlying the transaction acts as the mechanism that permits trustless trading between buyers and sellers. Transactions are free. By reviewing and facilitating transactions, Wax members can earn significant fees. As more fees are obtained, there will be more tokens available for using and accessing the entire ecosystem. The Wax tokens are utility tokens that allow virtual goods (not just for use in video games) to be easily tokenised and exchanged for cryptocurrency.

Future Focus

Wax has partnered up with many companies such as SALT, Kyber network, Bancor, Jaxx and Robot Cache to help the ecosystem feature-rich, secure, and optimised for all users. The Wax Partners "love working to decentralise and democratise the world through groundbreaking technology, empowering our users to benefit proportionally to their contributions." For more information regarding Wax visit the official website or read over their Whitepaper.

About Bitcoin

Bitcoin (BTC) is a form of digital currency in which encryption techniques are used to regulate the generation of units of currency and verify the transfer of funds. Transactions are stored on a distributed, immutable, online, public ledger known as a blockchain. Bitcoin was the first truly decentralised cryptocurrency which was created by a programmer under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto and was released in 2009. The system is peer-to-peer, verified by network nodes and recorded in a public distributed ledger called the blockchain. Bitcoin can be exchanged for other currencies, products, and services with over 100,000 merchants and vendors accepting bitcoin as payment. Bitcoin can also be held as an investment. There are only a fixed number of Bitcoin will ever be mined (21 million), it’s not controlled by any one government or central bank, and there’s no such thing as quantitative easing or fractional reserve banking. These qualities make Bitcoin excellent as a store of value and a long-term safe-haven asset, similar to gold.

A Bitcoin success story that went viral on social media is Kristoffer Koch from Norway. Koch invested around $27 in Bitcoin in 2009 and then forgot about it for four years. He remembered about his Bitcoin wallet in 2013, which had then grown in value to $886,000.
