Which cryptocurrency wallet do I need to set up for the coin I am interested in?

If you have ever been stuck wondering which crypto wallet you should use you’ve come to the right place! Below, please find a guide to help you find the best cryptocurrency wallet for some of the more popular crypto options.

We also have an in-depth article covering the essentials to learn about how crypto wallets and storing crypto assets works – our beginner’s guide to wallets. In the beginner’s guide, you’ll find a series of videos and articles walking you through the steps necessary to set up several wallets. These include software wallet providers such as Jaxx Liberty, Trust wallet, and Exodus, and hardware wallet options like Trezor and Ledger devices etc.

Most people new to cryptocurrency assume that a crypto wallet stores crypto tokens inside it however, technically this isn’t how it works. Instead, cryptocurrencies are stored on the blockchain itself, which acts as a decentralised database (think: virtual storage vault for data). What a cryptocurrency wallet does store is actually the private key that is used to unlock your unique blockchain address (aka wallet address) on the blockchain. If you want to dig deeper into this, we have an article explaining cryptocurrency encryption that you may find interesting. Otherwise, keep reading for help on working out which crypto wallet stores which crypto assets.

While the table below is not all-inclusive, it contains the main crypto wallets which BitPrime recommends. Recommendations are based on factors such as ease of use of the wallet, its security features, and the supported coins. There are many alternative wallets available beyond these ones listed here.

In the case of other wallets, we recommend that you do some research before using them to make sure they are suitable for your needs. Often, you can find helpful Reddit threads about various wallets and can read the opinions of actual users.

Every endeavour has been made to ensure the accuracy of the below wallet matrix. However, should you spot something that needs updating, please let us know either by commenting below, emailing or chatting with us.

    • Hi John,
Yes, that’s correct. I’d highly recommend reading this article: https://www.bitprime.co.nz/wallets/beginners-guide/
It should help with an overview of the different types of wallets so you can work out which suits your situation. If there is a particular coin that you are interested in I can also provide you with a few different options.
      Let me know ?
      Victoria

  1. I have the exodus wallet, on laptop and mobile and want to place an order with you but it is asking for the wallet address? Where do I find that?
