This brief post lists some renowned providers of online-based courses in blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. The skill level required for each course ranges from the beginner to more advanced.

edX was founded by Harvard University and MIT in 2012 and has over 120 institutional partners offering courses. The courses on blockchain technology are very in-depth and build knowledge from a foundational level to a more technical overview.

Run at set times throughout the year, this five-week course looks primarily at Bitcoin as the motivator for blockchain. Focussing on the basic properties and mechanics behind Bitcoin, this course will provide you with a strong understanding of the underlying architecture.

Udemy has an excellent library of self-paced online courses covering an extensive range of topics. As far as courses for cryptocurrency go, there are over 100 that touch on the subject. Ranging from investing courses to understanding alt-coins, there are plenty of options to choose from. The same can be said for the selection of blockchain-based courses. You can choose to learn anything from the basics to learning how to build games on blockchains. Find Udemy courses here.

Coursea offers a range of certificates, specialisations, and even university-recognised degrees. Partnered with 178 educational institutions, there are over 2,900 courses available. Of these, 12 courses offer content concerning blockchain.
This course begins on August 27th and provides an overview of the essential concepts behind blockchain technology. On completion of Blockchain Basics, you will have the foundational knowledge to create nodes on the Ethereum blockchain, and of DApp development. This is the first of three courses in Blockchain Specialisation and there are no technical prerequisites.
